I just recorded a podcast where I may have ruined a marriage.

That being said, the podcast is titled Why You Should Never Read Self Help Books. On the show I popped off and said I would elaborate more on the subject in a blog on my website. So here I sit on a Friday night fulfilling a promise.

I’ll keep this short and also give you a few ideas on stuff that will actually get you moving forward.

I attack self help books on the podcast. There are way too many to choose from. However I zeroed in on one of the biggest ever, The Secret.

Here’s the real secret. These books are good for one thing. They make you feel good. The big secret is that it’s just a momentary feeling. A Band-Aid. The book insinuates if you think you’re rich or healthy or whatever … you are. What bullshit.

So let me get this straight. If I think I’m a millionaire I am? Try walking into a bank to get a home loan on that? You’ll be all the talk in the break room. You will go viral.

But these books sell millions of copies. The Secret alone has sold over 20 million copies, one to me. It’s in 26 different languages. It’s a billion dollar industry. I lived this life. This stuff excited me. That is until I started to feel like shit for my life remaining the same. These books make you wish you had a certain lifestyle. They give you no tools.

Use that time actually doing something instead of wishing.

If you want to do something that will really change your life. Face one of your fears. You will quickly learn how powerful you really are. You will learn how something that was once scary to you was just a silly thought. You can apply that to all the other self-defeating thoughts you may have.

This shit requires a little more effort than wishing. But I’m here to tell you, it’s all about taking action to where you can see and feel the results.

The recipe is very simple. Get going. Period. This is simple shit. Do the work and stop thinking there’s an easy way.

Nothing but love for you.
